FREE Cycle Confidence Tuition Stoke-on-Trent

13/08/2010

Residents of Stoke-on-Trent who want to improve their cycling confidence can take part in one-on-one training courses at a location of their choice across the city.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet a professional instructor at a time and place that suits and will receive personalised training that is tailored to their specific needs so that they can become a confident cyclist on the roads. For a limited period CycleStoke are offering this training opportunity for free to residents of Stoke-on-Trent.

Sessions can cover a range of areas including, confidence building, advice on cycle maintenance, route planning, hazard awareness, and comprehensive training in all elements of on-road cycling.

Councillor Hazel Lyth, cabinet member for sport, leisure and culture, said: “By giving residents the chance to pick and choose where they learn new skills it opens the scheme up to everyone throughout the city. Some people may not feel confident enough to take part in large group classes but with one-on-one training we can approach a new group of cyclists as we continue to promote Stoke-on-Trent as a cycling city.”

The flexibility of the locations and times means training is where participants are most likely to ride their bikes. The sessions are available to all abilities regardless of cycling experience. The team of professional instructors can help all riders improve their skills.

Places available on these training sessions are limited and available to Stoke-on-Trent residents only. There may be a waiting list. Times and locations to be mutually agreed by cyclist and trainer. The offer of the free training can be withdrawn at any time. For further information or to book a training session, contact the CycleStoke team on 01782 238692 or email cyclestoke@stoke.gov.uk. Participants must be 18 or over.
