Every year, in the Whitsun Half Term at the start of June, it's Volunteers Week - when organisations all over the country run events to celebrate and recruit volunteers.
The 2012 Sports Volunteering Project for the West Midlands is already going a long way to maximise the volunteering opportunities in the West Midlands. We are working with Volunteer Centres, V Involved Teams, Local Authorities, County Sports Partnerships and National Governing Bodies and others to develop Volunteering in the West Midlands - Inspired by London 2012.
We recently launched a regionwide volunteer recruitment campaign "Volunteers - We Need You!" which showcased some of the West Midlands most dedicated volunteers as a way of inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.
Matt Kendall, the West Midlands Regional Sports Volunteer Coordinator for the 2012 Games said, "We are looking to capitalise on Volunteers Week to further magnify the public attention on Volunteering in the region - and encourage more people to get involved where they live"
We want to make the most of Volunteers Week, and to encourage our partners to get the most out of it - so please contact us and let us know what you are doing. Perhaps we can help? Perhaps you can use the resource pages at www.wmfor2012.com/volunteering to find local partners who can join you?
