If you are part of an organisation or a creative practitioner, there are a number of ways that you can get involved in the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

What is the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad?

The Olympic and Paralympic Games are about more than sport. Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic Movement in the late nineteenth century, described the Games as ‘the wedding of sport and art’.

London 2012 will see a return to those original values and will ensure that culture once again plays a central role in the Games.

The Cultural Olympiad is celebration of culture and creativity across the UK which runs up until the end of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Cultural Olympiad was launched across the UK on 26 – 28 September 2008. As part of plans to get the whole of the UK involved in celebrating the London 2012 Games, each nation and region in the UK was invited to create a regional specific culture programme to run between now and 2012. The West Midlands programme is our region's response to that invitation. Click here to read more about the WM Culture Programme for 2012.
