The London 2012 Open Weekend is the UK’s biggest celebration of cultural, educational, sporting and environmental activity.
Over the past four years, the London 2012 Open Weekend has featured hundreds of events including festivals, arts performances, free films, music performances and workshops to mark the countdown to the start of London 2012.
In 2011 over 100,000 people from across the West Midlands region took part in around 60 events as part of London 2012 Open Weekend, which took place on 22-24 July.
From arts events, sporting events to music festivals and historical exhibitions, there was something for everyone. Highlights included 'Jamaica Live!' in Birmingham, a festival of Jamiacan music, food, comedy, poetry and art and 'The Great Train Dance', which saw Rosie Kay Dance Company performing along the route of the Severn Valley Railway.
