In the West Midlands we will focus on a targeted programme of projects to achieve an above average percentage share of the £2.1 billion of benefits Visit Britain estimates the UK will receive from the 2012 Games.
London 2012 provides our region with a special opportunity to showcase our strong cultural offer and make it accessible to UK and international visitors through a programme of events and festivals.
Major sporting events already planned and in the pipeline will help position the Heart of England, West Midlands region as a sporting region accustomed to hosting national and international sporting events and competition.
Together cultural and sporting events will help deliver more short breaks and added value day visits to targeted locations. These additional visits and spend will take place leading up to the Games, during 2012 and particularly in the following years.
